In order to take on a new challenge, we had to furnish our first custom PCB.
To accomplish what you ask? Well, take a look at the final product

In order to accomplish this look, we had to furnish a PCB that could control a 555 timer to make the lights flash, as well provide output ports for standard solid-lit LEDs.

The specific design behind this board is outside the scope of this post, but may be covered in a future post or video.
After the boards were designed, they were fabricated in China then shipped here for final assembly.

The “Designed in Kauai” slogan is proudly displayed on the board. It is important to show our residents and future generation of this island that Kauai can innovate too. Kauai can be a leader in technology! Many products show “Designed in California” stamped on the side, but I think it is important for our island’s self-reliance to manufacture technology here as well.
Anyways, after the boards were soldered, it was time for a little test.
